About

Hey there. We're Sam and Ange, a couple from Australia navigating life with three kids (14, 11, and 3) and Sam's recent late-stage cancer diagnosis.

But don't let the cancer thing fool you. It's a happy story. Well, sort of.

Our Story

The funny thing is, Sam had already been planning a web series about health. He'd struggled with health for a long time, but in 2023 he'd stepped off the road most travelled and then in 2024 had ended up in the best shape he'd been in for a while. Not by following the conventional health advice, but by doing the opposite of that. And he wanted to tell everyone about it.

But then, just as he was getting used to his new way of life (and feeling great), he found a lump in his neck. Fast forward to today and what we now know is that Sam has a rare, aggressive and late-stage cancer (Stage IV, iodine refractory, Poorly Differentiated Thyroid Carcinoma with lung and bone metastasis and the TERT mutation for anyone who's interested in the gnarly details).

Sam's cancer diagnosis hit us like a freight train.

So, what we're doing now is we're throwing the kitchen sink at it: conventional medicine, alternative therapies, lifestyle changes, hope, witchcraft ... and anything else we can find. We're exploring every angle to support Sam's healing - and make life healthier for the kids as well.

As we go, we're doing our best to document what we're learning and experiencing. We're not experts (not on anything but our own situation) so please don't rely solely on our opinions for your medical decisions. But we hope it might be helpful to share our experience of what's worked, what hasn't, and what we've learnt to help inform your own research.

This isn't just about Sam—it's about all of us. We're parents first, so you'll see us wrestling with how to balance health hacks with kid-friendly living. No sugarcoating: cancer sucks, but we're in this together, and sharing helps.
